Education CS George Magoha has apologised to the public for any of his jokes that may have been in bad taste.
While stating that he is a courageous man whose rise to the ministerial position was by God's grace, Magoha said that he is not perfect.
“There is no one who is perfect and I believe that for me to serve here it was by the grace of God," he said.
"I respect everybody. The way you see me, the courage that I have comes from God and Starehe Boys Centre. We are eagles and we fly high and we are not afraid,” he added.
Magoha who was speaking to the media on Wednesday also asked for forgiveness for being arrogant.
The CS is known for being brass and stern in his pronouncements and one not to back down on his stance when issuing directives.
Some of his actions have, however, come off a bit too forceful and rubbed some individuals the wrong way.
Magoha, however, attributed this to the nature of his work which demands that he implements government policies without fail.
“As President's handy men, expect us to go with him, but we want to assure the public that we have taken all the arrows and the stones and forgotten about it because of our children."
In November 2020, a video of Magoha insulting Uasin Gishu Education officer Gitonga Mbaka went viral causing public uproar.
In the video, Magoha was heard publicly insulting the officer by calling him 'stupid' as he inspected schools ahead of the national exams.
The incident happened on November 6, when Magoha toured Langas Primary School in Eldoret to examine Covid-19 safety measures and delivery of desks.
The CS complained publicly about the hygiene and untidy state of the premises and blamed Mbaka for it.
“If we are arrogant then we ask for your forgiveness but it does not mean that we will stop it because eagles fly away and disappear into the air,” he said.
Magoha said he is thankful to President Uhuru Kenyatta for giving him an opportunity to serve the country.
"As we galvanise this difficult time, can we cross the bridge when we get there?" he said.
