Central Organisation of Trade Unions secretary general Francis Atwoli has dismissed as old a viral photo showing him at an airport.

The vocal leader took to Twitter on Friday to flag as fake the social media news.

"Somebody using my old photo while in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, five years ago," he tweeted.

The picture was doing rounds on social media on Friday, with claims that the provisional presidential results had scared him.

On June 29 during an Azimio rally in Kakamega, Atwoli urged Luhyas to vote for the Azimio la Umoja Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

He claimed he will not be at peace if the Kenya Kwanza candidate William Ruto wins the election.

"Raila's win will save my life because if Ruto wins, I will not have peace," he said.

Atwoli has been vocal against Ruto's candidature since 2014, claiming the outgoing deputy president lacks the integrity to become the country's top boss.

ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna and Former Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju have in the past said they would leave the country.
