Jubilee's Samuel Mwangi concedes defeat in Embakasi MP race

Mwangi was seeking to unseat incumbent Benjamin Gathiru as Embakasi Central MP.

• At the time of his concession, preliminary results at the Komarock School tallying centre showed that incumbent MP Benjamin Gathiru was leading the race with 7,000 votes against Mwangi's 4,000 votes. 

• Mwangi previously served as the Member of the County Assembly for Kayole North ward.

Jubilee Party aspirant in the Embakasi Central MP race Samuel Mwangi has conceded defeat.

At the time of his concession, preliminary results at the Komarock School tallying centre showed that incumbent MP Benjamin Gathiru was leading the race with 7,000 votes against Mwangi's 4,000 votes. 

The results were from 89 out of 215 polling stations that had submitted their results by 11 pm Wednesday. 

"I still believe in service leadership and I always will. To my supporters and residents of Embakasi Central if you do, then we must accept the results and then look to the future," Mwangi said in his concession speech.

Mwangi previously served as the Member of the County Assembly for Kayole North ward.

Gathiru, alias Mejjadonk, is defending the seat on a UDA ticket.
