What has made him disappear immediately? The police have asked about the whereabouts of MP Didmus Barasa after a shooting incident that left one dead.

Bungoma Police Commander Francis Kooli said they want to question the MP over the incident.

"We want him to tell us why he disappeared immediately yet he was busy monitoring results since it's his time. Is it because he did something wrong?" he posed.

"For me, it's a question of concern. Did he do something wrong? If he does not appear, we will take another approach to this matter."

Kooli said they did not know his motives but added that the law will be followed.

"The two candidates who were also involved have been probed and have surrendered their guns and are out on bond. Now we are waiting for Barasa," he said.

Bungoma head of DCI Joseph Ondoro said they had been to various places looking for him in vain.

“We suspect he took a motorcycle towards Uganda but we will get him. He is yet to be arrested,” he said Wednesday morning.

He said the incident happened when an altercation broke out between the two prompting Khaemba to leave and head to his car.

“Barasa followed him in the company of four men and ordered them not to allow him (Khaemba) to leave the place but Khaemba's driver Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle,” said Ondoro.

It was then that Barasa allegedly drew a pistol and aimed it at Khaemba's aide Brian Olunga.

He is suspected to have shot him in the forehead.
