Uhuru's last Coast presidential visit

His itinerary shows he will commission a number of projects including the Sh4.5 billion Makupa Bridge

President Uhuru Kenyatta  will on Thursday make his last presidential tour at the Coastal region.

In keeping with similar visits the last four days, Uhuru will launch several completed projects in Lamu, Mombasa and Kilifi counties.

An itinerary released by State House shows that the President is expected to first commission the Sh4.5 billion Makupa Bridge.

He will then commission the construction of the Metre-Gauge Railway from Mombasa Central Business District to Miritini SGR terminus.

He will also tour the port of Mombasa for the commissioning of the new Sh40 billion Kipevu Oil Terminal and phase II of the second container terminal.

Uhuru's activities during his last days in office are in contrast with the late former President Daniel Moi who months before his exist in 2002 spent time seeking reconciliation after extensively campaigning for Uhuru.

Moi publicly asked for forgiveness from all those he may have wronged and forgave those who had offended him.

Uhuru has, however, chosen to use his last days in office to drum up support for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and commission mega projects which define his legacy.

This even as the rift between him and Deputy President William Ruto widens, days to the August 9 general elections.

Uhuru has hit out at the DP accusing him of being a liar and urging the elecorate not to vote for him.

The two former political soulmates have engaged in public outbursts with Ruto at some point asking the President not to kill his children.

Uhuru, in response, said he is unbothered by the DP's insults and rage.

On Wednesday, Uhuru was in Kisii where he met Abagusii leaders at the Kisii State House Lodge in the company of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

On Monday and Tuesday, the President was in  Kisumu where he commissioned the Shipyard Limited,  the floatation of the MV Uhuru II and the new ultra-modern Kisumu Railway Station.

Uhuru also toured the Western region where he inspected  the Nzoia Sugar Factory .
