President Uhuru Kenyatta has said Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga once saved him when his enemies were after him.

Speaking to Bungoma residents on Tuesday, Uhuru said he was cornered by his Deputy William Ruto and his allies who he claimed did not want to work.

"Si mmeona vile mimi nimekimbizwa na mtu ambaye hana haja na kazi, nimekimbizwa mpaka nmetoa jasho, mpaka Baba amekuja kuniokoa, mnaelewa vile nasema."

"You all have seen how I was being handled by someone who didn't want to work, I was even sweating, Raila is the one who came to save me on the other side, you understand what I'm saying," he said.

He also cautioned them not to vote for thieves or they will regret it.

Uhuru, while drumming up support for Raila, he called on six-piece voting, saying that will be efficient to run the government.

"Nawaomba kwa heshima, kama mtamuunga Baba (Raila) mkono, mpatieni jeshi yake ya kufanya kazi. (If you will support Baba, then also elect candidates allied to him)."

Uhuru further said that people should not judge a person based on their age when it comes to a country's leadership.

He said they should strive to elect an ambitious person, who does not only have sweet words with no actions.

"I'm still a president, I'm old and I have led, there were young men who could have done that job, where were they? Being old is not sickness, the purpose is a person who has the country's best interest at heart, a calm person, and one whose focus is his work," he said.
