Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has rolled out a  mobile application to help deaf voters during the election period.

AssistALL, a free sign language interpreter application, will aid in the dissemination of election and voter information to the community in preparation for the elections.

IEBC through a statement on Twitter said the launch of the application will aid in inclusivity.

"We have partnered with assistALL, a sign language interpreting application to enable everyone to access important information on elections," said IEBC.

"Kenyans need to download the assistALL application from Google Play store, register on the application as a deaf person, go to the Corporate tab and click on IEBC. Click on a sign language in green and make a video call for free to get voter information on elections."

The commission is setting up plans for preparedness for a fair, peaceful and credible election.

IEBC on Monday launched an 18-day voter sensitisation campaign in an effort to educate Kenyans about the elections.

The commission has acquired 14 vehicles that will traverse the country and sensitise the public with voter education messages.

Director of Voter Registration and Electoral Operations, Rasi Masudi, said the campaign will start in Nairobi where four caravan trucks will traverse the county before joining the rest in Kisumu, Nakuru and Mombasa cities.

"The caravan will engage voters and answer any queries within the four cities and several towns along 13 regional roads across the country," Masudi said.

"Each caravan will have IEBC staff led by County Election Managers and all other stakeholders."

The vehicles were flagged off by the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati at the Kenyan International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi
