President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at his deputy William Ruto over remarks that he should only focus on his retirement ahead of the August 9, polls.
Uhuru who was speaking in Nairobi when he commissioned projects said he is not going anywhere until he finishes his task.
"Hawa wengine ni wa mdomo tu na matusi. If you see them meeting, they talk about me," he said.
"I am not looking for votes. They are telling me to finish and go, where do they want me to go? I will do my job until the last minute."
Uhuru said he still has a lot of work he is doing and will not go until he finishes all of them.
Uhuru also drummed support for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga saying he is the best person to succeed him.
"Bado kuna kazi nyingi za kufanywa. Hospital zinafaa kufunguliwa.. I will do them until I give the next president and I pray that the person who I will pass the baton to Raila Odinga," he said.
DP William Ruto allies have been asking the president to retire peacefully and leave the race to Raila.
Last month, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi asked the President Uhuru Kenyatta to complete his term and leave office in peace.
Addressing a rally in Bungoma on Friday, Mudavadi trashed Uhuru’s move to back Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga to succeed him.
He insisted that the President should let Kenyans choose who they want, as their next Commander-in-chief.
“Uhuru has only one month remaining to leave office, he has really destroyed the country’s economy with his handshake with Raila Odinga,” Mudavadi said.
