President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived at a Nairobi hotel for the 39th Extraordinary Assembly of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Heads of State and Government Summit.

In the Tuesday meeting, leaders of the eight-nation bloc will discuss peace, security and other regional priorities.

The bloc brings together; Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan Uganda, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia.

The leaders will also discuss the ongoing border conflict between Sudan and Ethiopia.

IGAD has urged both countries to seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

The leaders will also discuss the impact of the Ukraine and Russia War, and the way forward.

They will also call on the international community to support those affected by the drought.
