4 robbery suspects arrested, 2 AK- 47 rifles recovered

Police on Saturday morning arrested four suspected highway robbers in Turkana South Sub-County.

The National Police Service said the arrest came after a tip-off by an informer on the sighting of suspected armed robbers harassing motorists near KWS camp along the Kitale-Lodwar highway.

"The incident that occurred around 5.30 am earlier today, prompted the OCS Kainuk to promptly mobilize a multiagency security response team who set out to pursue the suspects," NPS said.

The officers recovered two AK 47 rifles and 13 rounds of ammunition.

The four; Eyanane Epae Longuny,24, Loreng Kalulu, 18 and two minors aged 11 and 13 are in custody and awaiting arraignment.

The Service said the suspects were assisting with further investigations, concerning robberies in the area.

It lauded the team for their quick and brave actions adding that they averted possible attacks on innocent motorists.
