8 die in Maai Mahiu road accident

Eight people have been confirmed dead in a grisly road accident that occurred in Maai Mahiu along the Nairobi- Narok highway in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

This is after the bus they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry.

Nakuru traffic base police commander Beatrice Kiraguri told the Star the bus was carrying mourners from Kisii and was on its way to Naivasha.

"Of the 8 confirmed dead, four are women and four men. The 8 died on the spot," Kiraguri told the Star on phone.

The lorry was heading to  Narok.

Four other people who were part of the mourners are in a coma as a result of the accident. 

Another four survived with injuries.

The injured survivors are receiving treatment at a Naivasha hospital.
