Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have shared  best wishes messages to Muslims across the country as they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

"It gives me great pleasure to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy and blessed Eid-ul- Fitr celebration As you mark the end of Ramadhan,” Ruto tweeted.

“May your acts of faith be rewarded on earth and in the hereafter.”

Raila on his part shared a verse from the holy Quran: 2:185  which says; “You shall complete the number (of days) and, you may glorify God for his guiding you, and that you may be thankful.”

He added: “ I would like to wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters Eid Mubarak. May all the deeds you exerted yourselves fully during Ramadhan be fully accepted,” he said.

Eid is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah's (God's) command to sacrifice his son.

Eid-ul-Adha is held at the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and sees family and friends gather for feasts, gift-giving, and prayers.

Eid is one of the biggest celebrations in the Muslim calendar.
