A female athlete has been found murdered in a house in Iten town.

The upcoming athlete has been identified as 24-year-old Damaris Muthee Mutua.

She was allegedly murdered by an Ethiopian athlete identified as Koki Fai who reportedly fled from the country after the incident.

The athlete is a Kenyan but running for a foreign nation.

Her body was found in the man's house at Lillys Estate on the outskirts of the town.

Fellow athletes alerted the police after the alleged killer called from outside the country saying he had committed the murder.

Police have sealed off the scene and are currently investigating the circumstances around the killing.

Keiyo North police boss Tom Makori is leading a team of officers who are at the scene.

This comes a few months after athlete Agnes Tirop was killed in the same town last October.
