Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has claimed that he was not aware that ODM leader Raila Odinga would be in Uasin Gishu on the fateful day when he was attacked.
According to him, he did not receive any information about Raila attending Mzee Jackson Kibor's burial and hence could not have organized the youth to stone him.
Speaking in an interview on KTN news on Wednesday, the governor claimed that he knew about Raila's attendance at 5:30 p.m.
Mandago's comment is a contradiction of his earlier remarks where he claimed that Raila and his team used his car after he landed in Eldoret for the funeral.
"I was not aware that Raila was coming to the burial of Jackson Kibor until around 5:30 p.m. I saw two helicopters and I was informed that it was the former Prime Minister," Mandago said.
"We didn't know that there was any youth who were going to throw stones at the helicopter of Raila Odinga," he explained.
Mandago argued that he is not active on Twitter, thus he had no idea that Raila would be in attendance even when Dennis Onsarigo had tweeted about it.
The governor also denied allegations that some leaders from the region may have taken part in the planning and execution of the attack on Raila.
"I've been the Governor of this county for 10 years, I know leaders in this county very well. I can tell you no leader had any intention or imagination in planning any violence against any political candidate in this county," Mandago said.
Mandago had denied being involved in the planning of stoning Odinga's chopper.
An agitated Mandago said he was above such cheap schemes.
