Two people who were coming from a circumcision camp are among three people who have died in a road accident.

The three died on the spot in a road accident at Davishon area along the Njoro-Mau Narok road on Friday night.

The initiates were being driven home when the car their were travelling in developed mechanical problems.

The initiates had just left a pass-out ceremony at Kahiriga Gikuyu Shrine in Ndeffo where they were accompanied by parents and relatives.

Njoro Sub County Police Commander, Isaac Odumbe said the car burst its front tyre and rolled several times.

He said three other initiates are admitted at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital and are in critical condition.

On of the survivors, Joseph Kirima said the initiates had spent the day celebrating their pass-out ceremony in readiness for further festivities at their individual homes.

"This was the happiest day for the youths as they traditionally transit from childhood to adulthood, no one would have thought it would end tragically," he said.

Kirima said the initiates who had just sat their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations had just finished their 12 days in seclusion after the initiation rite and were ready to rejoin their families for further celebrations.

Odumbe said the bodies were removed to Egerton University Mortuary while the damaged vehicle was towed to Njoro Police Station.
