Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga is the only politician with a fanatical following, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has said.

Speaking to an NTV feature on Sunday, Malala said the ODM leader has over the years managed to build a formidable support base.

“Fanatical supporters will follow you without any pay and I think there is only one person who has fanatical supporters in this country, that is Raila Odinga. He has die-hard supporters because he has built that over some time,” Malala said.

Malala, who is rooting for deputy president William Ruto's presidential bid, appeared to suggest that the DP's huge crowd are not 'natural' as such.

Similar sentiments have always been shared by Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli who often says Raila is among the top two most popular and influential political figures in the country.

"I have always said, after Uhuru and Raila, I am the third most popular and influential leader in, Kenya" Atwoli has severally said.

“If you have Raila Amolo Odinga, who else do you need?”

For almost two decades, ODM leader Raila has proved to be a master of crowds.

His political rallies have been punctuated with a huge attendance of his supporters who have always shown their support whenever he stages an event.

As he seeks the presidency for the fourth time, the same crowd control tactic and mastery is visible in his campaign rallies.

His former associates like Lawyer Miguna Miguna have publicly claimed that Raila never pays people to grace his rallies.

Whether he mobilised his supporters to turn up for his events or not, Raila will go down in history as one of the few politicians whose supporters managed to fill big fields like Uhuru Park to the brim.
