Digital hailing cab, Bolt customers will have to dig deeper into their pockets to access the taxi services.
This comes after the company increased their fare rates by at least 4 per cent.
In a statement on Monday, the company said the increase was necessitated by the recent increase in fuel prices.
"Bolt the leading on demand transport platform in Africa has revised its fares by 4% following the recent fuel price hike by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA)," Bolt said.
"This has resulted in a matching increment in the Per Km fares for Bolt rides, by KES 0.47 for each Km completed on-trip."
The changes will be implemented in Nairobi as the company works to review fares across other towns.
Bolt Eastern Africa Regional manager Kenneth Micah said the review will cushion their drivers against the increased furl prices.
"We truly believe that happy drivers provide better quality service for customers. As such, we've been doing extensive reviews to ensure that we continue to provide the best earnings for drivers on our platform and remain the most affordable and preferred platform by customers. We have therefore reviewed our pricing to reflect the current market realities," he said.
Bolt previously charged Sh26.90 per kilometre on its budget ride category and the new changes will see the prices go up to Sh27.37 per kilometre in Nairobi.
The company has also increased the minimum fare for Lite category from Sh150 to Sh180.
The start fee has been increased from Sh55 to Sh70.
Other Bolt categories affected include; Bolt Base, Bolt Green and Bolt Women Only, which will also have similar increases in fare per Km.
The XL category will increase by Sh0.66 per Kilometer.
