Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Tuesday discussed matters economy during his meeting with leaders from the House of Commons in the UK.

Raila was accompanied by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, among other leaders.

During the meeting, the team discussed how to revive the economy amid the looming elections.

"As we grapple with the economic ravages of COVID-19, we should take it as an opportunity for an economic renaissance," Raila said.

"We need to build back better and ensure that the electioneering period does not disrupt the ongoing efforts to revive the economy."

Raila said reviving the Kenyan economy was their key agenda.

"This formed the basis of our discussion at the House of Commons with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s trade envoy to Kenya, Theo Clarke," he said.

The meeting was also attended by 10 members from both Houses of Parliament. 

The former Prime Minister landed in London on Monday for a series of high-profile engagements.

He will hold talks with top UK government officials on trade, investment, development, politics, security and the regional situation.

Raila is the AU Special Envoy for Infrastructure.

The ODM leader, who is accompanied by at least five Azimio leaders, was received by Kenya's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Manoah Esipisu on Monday morning.

Raila will on Tuesday morning meet UK Minister of Armed Forces James Heappey at MoD headquarters.
