UDA delegates are currently held up in a closed-door meeting at Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.

Journalists have been asked to stay out of the venue and would be called back after the conclusion of the official meeting, expected to take one hour.

Seats of other party leaders among them Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) remained empty as they too will be called in after the meeting.

UDA's National Delegates Congress is currently underway at Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium where Deputy President William Ruto will be endorsed as the party flagbearer.

Ruto arrived at the venue at 10.45 am and was received by his wife Rachael, UDA secretary-general Veronica Maina and Chairman Johnson Muthama, among other party officials.

Meanwhile, supporters of UDA trooped to the venue in their thousands- in yellow and green attires- for Ruto's big day.

Traders took advantage of the occasion to make money selling UDA T-shirts, caps and flags. Food and drinks were also available.

The journalists were later called back to the gymnasium for the next session of the programme. This was after the delegates endorsed Ruto as the party's presidential candidate.

Guests at the event include Mwangi Kiunjuri (TSP), Moses Kuria (CCK), Jimmy Wanjigi (Safina), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), William Kabogo (Tujibebe), among others.
