The unveiling of the candidate is only eight days away.
We should be seeing signs or progress and accord, discussions, private meetings, deals being hammered out.
But I do not see any moves. No critical meetings have been held unless we are going to hold them next week.
From the statement my leader gave in the early weeks and what we are reading in the press, it is clear they are not talking.
Otherwise, the tone of those statements would have changed.
Everyday we read the press, they are moving further and further away from the goal.
The real problems that we are facing are:
The Azimio La Umoja movement is not a legal entity and there is no hint of how it would look.
We do not know whether Azimio will be a coalition political party or a coalition of political parties.
One Kenya Alliance has also not signed coalition agreement.
So, it is very difficult for all these parties to sit at the table because they are separate.
Prof Makau Mutua, Raila's spokesman, said they will deal with entities, that is, individual parties.
That mean, Oka parties must also come in as entities.
That why I am saying, they are not talking because if they were, they would have been speaking with one voice.
Fortunately, the deadline for formation of political coalitions is April 9.
There are things they are supposed to sort out first.
The political vehicle they will use. Afterwards is when they sort out the issue of the candidate.
If you sort out the issue of the candidate before the vehicle, it is simply putting the cart before the horse.
The candidate must first know the vehicle he is going to use.
But people are not talking and I presume, everybody has made up their minds, they are just buying time.
So, I do not know what framework they are going to use if they are not talking.
How will they hammer out a deal? How will President Uhuru Kenyatta who is exiting hammer out the deal when he exits?
The President should mediate between Raila and Kalonzo.
He should not just superintendent without bringing together the people he is going to leave behind.
