Raila calls for six piece voting in ODM strongholds

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has called for six-piece voting method in ODM strongholds to enable him form a strong government.

Raila said the six piece will allow him to have more number of MCAs, MPs, senators, Woman Representatives in county assembly and parliament as well as governors. 

Under the Azimio La Umoja, he said ODM party should be stronger but only if his supporters vote in party candidates. 

Raila supported various political parties working under the Azimio saying it was the best way to unite the country and transform the governance system for the sole  betterment of Kenyans. 

"I want to form a strong inclusive government that will revolutionise economy, empower youths and women, eradicate poverty among Kenyans," he said.

The former Prime Minister told his supporters while presiding over Kisumu Christmas streets party on Friday night that they should not let him be a king with inadequate soldiers. 

He was accompanied by Governor Anyang Nyong'o and his Vihiga counterpart Wilbur Otichillo, Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda, Seme MP James Nyikal, Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir and a host of MCAs. 

Kisumu City manager Abala Wanga and Langata parliamentary seat aspirant Jalango was present. 

Raila assured of free, fair and credible party primaries to help consolidate his strongholds as he makes the fifth stab at the presidency in the next year's general election.

"We should agree on proper nominations and get the right candidates to fly the ODM flag," he said. 

Noting that political parties gets more funds based on political strength (numbers) in parliament, Raila said ODM should dominate in his strongholds across the country.

He rallied his supporters in Kisumu to arm themselves with IDs and voters card, and vote in totality if they want him to win the presidency. 

Raila reiterated on his social protection fund to the vulnerable groups where each poor families will be given Sh 6,000 monthly if he forms the next government. 

"Let them not lie to you that there's no money in government. I have been the Prime Minister for six years and I know where there are loopholes of corruption. When we form government, we will seal such to have money to fund the projects," he said.

On corruption, Raila said God doesn't want vices noting that it was a collective responsibility of all Kenyans to eradicate the monster in their midst. 

"We brought constitution to do away with bad leadership. Kenyans who are the taxpayers must get better and efficient services as they deserve. This is possible with good leadership," he said.

He said the country's third revolution will basically focus on  economic, youth, smart agriculture and industrialisation in every 47 counties. 

 "Kenyans want uchumi bora mashinani, pesa mfukoni na afya bora. Under industrialisation, we want to have one county one product. We must instil the culture of buy Kenya build Kenya because we have the capacity," Raila said.

He pledged to continue with the legacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta when his term come to an end, noting that the head of state means well for the country. 

He said President Uhuru wants a peaceful and united country where all Kenyans are treated equally irrespective of political affiliation or ethnic background.

On his part, Nyong'o also rallied supporters of Raila to ensure they are all enlisted as voters ahead of the August 9, 2022 general elections.

"We should be strong soldiers behind our presidential candidate. We all have a duty to fulfil that dream to enable Raila to transform the country. He is the best and right candidate to succeed President Uhuru," he said.
