Three miners who were still trapped in the Abimbo gold mine accident in Bondo, Siaya county have been rescued.

Bondo Sub county police commander Roseline Chebosho said they were rescued from the mines at 2 am Wednesday.

Philip Ogutu, Victor Otieno and Jack Abonyo were taken to Bondo Sub county hospital for treatment.

This brings to seven, the total number of those who have been rescued alive from the mines that collapsed on Friday.

Two miners were successfully evacuated immediately after the accident.
