Radio Africa's Ilado appointed to media task force

He will serve alongside Pamella Sittoni Nation Media Group Executive Editor among other members

Information Communication Technology and Youth Cabinet Secretary Joseph Mucheru has appointed Paul Ilado and Pamella Sittoni as members of the Task-force on the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines.

Ilado is the Group Head of Content at Radio Africa Group while Sittoni is the Executive Editor of the Nation Media Group.

They will serve in the 15-member task force with immediate effect on behalf of Media Owners.  

The task force will among other things identify gaps or inconsistencies in the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines, 2009 and propose specific policy and legislative review requirements.

“I’m humbled by the appointment and look forward to making a  meaningful contribution,” Ilado said.

Henry Maina the former Article 19 Eastern Africa Regional Director is the task force chairman.

Maina will be deputized by United States International University Assistant Professor of Corporate and Development Communication Dorothy Njoroge.

Other members of the task force are Information Secretary Judy Munyinyi, Victor Bwire (Director Media Training and Development at the Media Council of Kenya), Dinah Ondari (Media Council of Kenya Press Freedom, Safety and Advocacy), Wilson Ugangu, Muiru Ngugi, Christopher Maina, June Chepkemei, Ibrahim Odour, John Munyiri and Casty Micheni.

The task force will have the power to hold meetings, public forums or consultations as it shall deem necessary for the proper discharge of its mandate.

“The task force shall prepare and submit to the CS a work-plan and progress reports and a reviewed Kenya Media Policy Guidelines,” read the gazette notice by Mucheru.
