Uhuru condoles with family of CS Farida Karoney

Cheptoo's death come a year after their father Mzee Edward Kiprotich passed on.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has condoled with the family of Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney following the death of her elder sister Nancy Cheptoo Karoney.

In his message of comfort, Uhuru regretted that Cheptoo had passed on at a time her family needed her the most.

Cheptoo who was a retired teacher succumbed to cancer at the age of 54 years.

“It is even more painful that she has passed away, just one year after the sudden death of your father and family patriarch Mzee Edward Kiprotich," he said.

The President said Cheptoo's legacy will be continued by the many young people she brought up through her teaching career.

He added that Kenya will forever be grateful for her invaluable contribution to the education sector, as he prayed for God's comfort to the Karoney family.

“At this difficult time of sorrow, I pray that God gives you courage and solace as you mourn your beloved sister, mother, daughter and friend,” Uhuru said.

CS Karoney's father, Mzee Edward Kiprotich Karoney, 74, died in October last year after he was knocked down while crossing the busy Kapsabet- Eldoret highway, and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.

Mzee Karoney had just parked his vehicle in a shade and was crossing to attend an appointment when a speeding boda boda rider knocked him to the ground.
