Kenya's Covid-19 positivity rate at 2% as 99 test positive

Kagwe announced three new deaths all from facility record audits.

The Ministry of Health has announced 99 new cases of Covid-19, from 4,895 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases bring total confirmed positive cases to 252,938, and the positivity rate to 2.0 per cent.

The youngest of the cases is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 89-years-old.

Total Covid-19 related deaths stand at 5,266.

A total of 115 patients have recovered from the disease; 77 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 38 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 246,505.

Some 481 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals, while 1,296 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Another 24 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen.

No patient is under observation.

An additional 161 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with158 of them in the general wards and three patients are in the High Dependency Units (HDU).

Vaccination

As of October 26 2021, a total of 5,084,297 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 3,576,875 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,507,422. 

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is currently at 40 per cent and the proportion of adults fully vaccinated is at 5.5 per cent.

The Government aims at vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033 Kenyans.
