Kenya on Saturday recorded 159 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 4,046 tested in the last 24hours, with the positivity rate now at 3.9%.
This now brings the total confirmed positive cases to 251,057 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,602,818.
In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 147 of the new cases are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners, with 81 being females and 78 are males.
The youngest is a four-month-old child while the oldest is 103 years.
He added that 181 patients have recovered from the disease, with 117 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 64 are from various health facilities countrywide.
This now brings the total recoveries to 243,772 of whom 197,042 are from the home-based care and isolation program, while 46,730 are from various health facilities countrywide.
The number of fatalities has risen to 5,181 after two more patients succumbed to the disease.
The deaths are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of October 2021.
A total of 789 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,809 are under the home-based care and isolation program.
48 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 of whom are on ventilatory support and 16 on supplemental oxygen.
No patient is under observation.
Another 266 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with260 of them in general wards and 6 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
CS Mutahi also stated that as of October 8, a total of 4,171,581 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.
Of these, 3,126,284 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,045,918.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 32.0%.
Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was3.8%.
He added that the Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
