A politician from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s (pictured) Central backyard has caught the attention of keen political observers. Why? The man is in every political camp. Those in the know say it was time the man chose one candidate to market in the region. The politician, they add, is confusing them, having hosted nearly all political party chiefs in the region with a promise to back them in the succession race. There is now growing talk that the man could soon accompany DP William Ruto on a tour of the region — for political survival. A little bird whispered to Corridors of Power that they are watching the man’s steps carefully.

Has a vocal governor caused panic in a party where he thought he would find himself in a lonely corner after he ditched the Jubilee-affiliated camp? The party’s stalwarts were overheard saying they underestimated the amount of work they have to do to dislodge the county chief. They say that not even the financial resources unleashed in a campaign against the county boss seem to help. We are told the group is now contemplating creating barriers, including court cases and Parliament summonses, to obstruct the apparently indefatigable governor’s smooth return to office for a second term.

Talking of 2022, is there fresh trouble in one of the country’s big political parties? Some party members set off an alarm after they stormed out of a ‘housekeeping’ meeting chaired by the party’s boss. The angry members complained of a plot to rig the party’s primaries even before they begin. They accused an operative, who endears himself to the party leader, of giving the big man alarming reports of disloyalty. The party stalwart is said to have drawn up his own list of preferred candidates to fly the party’s flag. It took the party leader more than an hour to calm the situation after the two rival factions almost came to blows.

Supporters of a governor aspirant in a Coast county are a worried lot. This was after their main rival organised a successful event that saw the high and mighty in Kenya's political circles attend and make merry. The worried lot was overheard questioning whether their candidate could match up to his competitors. They say their man should get worried if the guest list at the party is anything to pick from. To them, it was a testament of the support the person they seek to face off with enjoys, hence, it's likely to spell doom to their ambitions.
