The main suspect in the murder of eight-year-old Shantel Nzembi has been held for seven more days pending investigations.
Nativity Mutindi will remain under the custody of Kitengela police station after the prosecution successfully made an application at the Kajiado law courts.
Mutindi was arraigned alongside another suspect - Patrick Mureithi - but both never took plea.
They appeared before resident magistrate Edwin Mulochi on Monday.
Mureithi, according to the charge sheet, fraudulently registered the sim card that was used to demand for a ransom from the deceased’s mother Christine Ngena after she went missing from her house in Kitengela, Kajiado county, a few weeks ago.
Four suspects have so far been arraigned in court in connection with the murder.
The others are boda boda operator Livingstone Makacha and Francis Mbuthia.
Makacha was found in possession of the mobile phone that was used to register the sim card, while Mutindi was found in possession of the sim card.
Another suspect - Agnes Nzioka - was released last Friday after detectives said she had no connection to the murder.
She allegedly met the main suspect in Kitengela while both were allegedly looking for houses to rent.
They shared contacts so that the first person to get vacant houses for rent would alert the other.
Though their phones were located by the detectives in same location during the time Shantel was kidnapped, the two never communicated despite exchanging phone numbers.
