A woman was Sunday morning found murdered in Naivasha and her body cut into pieces then dumped in a trench.
The hands and torso of the woman were found in Kabati estate. It was the second such incident in a month.
Amos Kimani, a witness, said it was impossible to know the identity of the woman as the head was missing and there were no identification documents.
He said that the woman may have been decapitated elsewhere and the body parts ferried to the scene by the killers in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
“The naked torso and hands were dumped in a trench off one of the feeder roads in Kabati estate and no one knows the identity of the woman or killers,” he said.
Naivasha police boss Samuel Waweru said the body parts had been collected and taken to the local morgue.
He said that initial investigations indicated that the murder was committed elsewhere before the body parts were dumped at the scene.
“Our officers have opened an inquest and we are working round the clock to identify the body and those responsible for the murder,” he said.
Two weeks ago, police recovered the body parts of a flower farm worker who was murdered last year in the town. Two suspects have been arrested and charged in court with murder.
Meanwhile, Naivasha residents have raised the alarm over a serial-rapist in some of the estates around the lakeside town.
According to residents, the suspect had sexually assaulted several women in Kabati, Mithuri and Kayole estates during the day.
While calling for action from police, Reuben Gitau said that the attacks had raised fear and concern among residents.
“The suspect has been targeting open houses where he asks for drinking water before striking and abusing the victims,” he said.
