10 more deaths as Kenya's virus cases cross 80,000 mark

552 more patients have recovered from the disease.

Kenya on Thursday recorded 780 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 80,102, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS, in a statement, confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,158 recording a positivity rate of 12.6 per cent.

Cumulative tests stand at 861,561.

 

The country's fatalities have risen to 1,427 after another 10 patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 1,232 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 7,295 patients are on the home-based care programme.

Also, 109 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 58 are in general wards and 24 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 552 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 468 were from the Homebased care program while 84 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 53,526.

From the new cases reported on Thursday, 754 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners.

 
 

In terms of gender, 460 are males while 320 are females and the youngest in a one-year-old child and the oldest is 94.

Nairobi leads with 273, Kiambu 93, Mombasa 86, Busia 85, Nakuru 40, Turkana 32, Uasin Gishu 20, Kilifi 16, Meru 13, Kajiado 13, Kericho 13, Kisumu 11, Nandi 10, Taita Taveta 9, Murang’a 8, Laikipia 8, Nyeri 8, Bomet 7 and Trans Nzoia 7.

Kwale 4, Makueni 4, Machakos 3, Embu 3, Homa Bay 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Tana River 2, Samburu 1, Baringo 1, Garissa 1, Nyamira 1, Marsabit 1, Kitui 1, Isiolo 1 and Siaya 1.
