10 dead as Kenya records 318 new virus cases

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 318 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number to 41, 937.

This is from 2,592  samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number to 595,791.

Of the cases, 215 are males while 103 are females.

In terms of recoveries, 243 more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 31,340.

A total of 132 recovered from the home-based care programme, while 111 recovered from different health facilities.

On a sad note, 10 people have succumbed to the virus, with the number of deaths rising to 787.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 112, Uasin Gishu 30, Mombasa 29, Nakuru 25, Busia 24, Kisii 21, Kisumu 19, Kakamega and Muranga eight, Kilifi six, Laikipia, Kiambu, and Embu five cases each, Homabay four, Trans Nzoia three.

Others are Turkana with nine cases, Machakos, Isiolo and Kajiado with two cases each,  Nyandarua, Garissa, Tharaka Nithi, Vihiga and Kirinyaga have one case each.

In terms of Sub County distribution, in Nairobi, the 112 cases are from  Kibra 18, Westlands 14,  Starehe 13, Langata 12, Roysambu 11, Dagoretti North, Embakasi East, Embakasi South, and Makadara have five cases each, Kamukunji and Kasarani four cases each, Dagoretti South and Ruaraka three cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Embakasi West, and Mathare have two cases each.

In Uasin Gishu, the 30 cases are from Ainabkoi 27, Turbo two, and Noiben one case.

In Mombasa, the 29 cases are from Kisauni and Mvita 12 cases each, Nyali three and Jomvu two.

In Nakuru, all the 25 cases are from Naivasha, while in Busia, the 24 cases are from Teso North 22 and Matayos two cases.

In Kisii, the 21 cases are from Kituîu Chache South 16, Nyaribari Chache three, and Bonchari two cases.

In Kisumu, the 19 cases are from Kisumu Central 16, Kisumu East two, and Kisumu West one case.

In Kakamega, all the eight cases are from Shinyaiu, while the eight cases in Muranga, are from Kangema six, Kiharu, and Mathioya one case each.

In Kilifi, the six cases are from Kilifi North five and Kilifi South one.

In Laikipia, the five cases are from Laikipia East four and Laikipia North one case, while in Kiambu the five cases are from Kiambu Town two, Kiambaa, Lari, and Thika one case each

In Embu, all five cases are from Runyenjes. In Homabay, the four cases are from Rachuonyo North two, Homabay Town, and Rachuonyo South one case each, while in Trans Nzoia, all the three cases are from Kwanza.

The 2 cases in Machakos, are all from Athi River, the two cases in Isiolo, are all from Isiolo Town, while the two cases in Kajiado, are all from Kajiado North.

The case in Nyandarua is from Ol Kalou, the case in Garissa is from Dadaab, the case in Tharaka Nithi is from Igambangombe, the case in Viiga is from the town while the case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central.
