13 deaths as virus cases hit 37,707

Kenya's total fatalities now stand at 682.

Kenya on Friday recorded 218 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total to 37,707.

The new cases were from a sample of 5,424 tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative tests done so far to 532,729.    

Of the new cases, all except eight were Kenyans while in terms of gender, 159 were males made 59 were females. 

 
 
 

The number of fatalities rose to 682 after another 13 patients succumbed to the virus.

A statement by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe showed that age-wise, the youngest was a one-year-old infant while the oldest was 78 years old. 

The cases were distributed in among other counties Nairobi (68), Kisii (28), Mombasa (21), Kisumu (19), Kiambu (13), Kajiado (11), Busia 10 (10), Machakos (8), Tharaka Nithi (6),Garissa (6), Taita Taveta (5), Nakuru (4), Uasin gishu (3), Narok (2), Laikipia (2), Kakamega (2), Kericho (2) and Homabay (1) case.

Another 170 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 24,504.

A total of 79 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 91 were discharged from various heath facilities.
