The High Court has adjourned the Willie Kimani murder case after the judge raised concern on the lack of a conducive court that will accommodate all parties.

Justice Jessie Lessit on Wednesday raised concern that the small tent provided by the Judiciary was small and could not hold everyone while adhering to the Ministry of Health directives on social distancing.

Judge Lessit said she had asked for a 100 capacity tent but was instead given the small tent.

 
 

She apologised to lawyers for the inconvenience.

The hearing was adjourned to Monday next week to allow the Judiciary to procure a bigger tent to accommodate everyone.

The case was to resume hearing today after a long break due to the Covid-19.

The case has five accused persons (four APs and a police informer) who were charged with the murder of human rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwendwa and driver Joseph Muiruri on June 23, 2016.

The victims' bodies were found afloat in River Ol Donyo Sabuk.

Forty-one of the prosecution's 43 witnesses had testified before the adjournment.

Head of investigations Nicholas ole Sena is expected to resume his testimony against the accused.

 
 

The officer had laid the basis of the case before he was stood down by Justice Lessit to allow him to attend a colleague’s burial.
