Police in Mandera on Sunday morning arrested two individuals in possession of 130 kilogrammes of bhang.
The Sh800,000 bhang was seized in Mandera town by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers following a tip off by members of the public.
Mandera East Sub County Police Commander Richard Ngetich said the bhang was from Moyale.
Ngetich warned drug abuse has been on the rise in the region and was ruining the lives of youths.
He said youths in the region have abdicated their daily economic activities and are deeply engaged in the vice.
He advised youths to shun the vice as it was ruining their future.
Two weeks ago, North Eastern regional coordinator Nicodemus Ndalana warned the use of bhang was on the rise in the region.
Ndalana said the drug was being given to donkeys to make them work extra hours.
In April, a private hospital van belonging to Takaba nursing home in Mandera west as involved in an accident and bang worth Sh3 million nabbed along Modogashe-Garissa road.
The Land Cruiser vehicle with foreign number plate was overtaking another vehicle when it collided head on with the oncoming Probox car, killing all the three occupants. The driver of the Land Cruiser escaped.
