Modern Coast suspends operations to UG, TZ and Rwanda

Advance booking tickets will be valid for 90 days from the initial travel date.

Modern Coast bus services has suspended its operations for buses going to Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

The Managing Director in a statement said the suspension is based on the directives given by the government with regards to travel to the said countries.

The company said the suspension was effective from March 19 and will remain in place until further notice.

According to the company, operations of its buses within the country will however continue normally or as will be guided by the government.

"Due to the current uncertainty of the COVID-19, all passengers who had made advance bookings will be able to open their tickets for travel which will be valid for 90 days from the initial travel date," read part of the statement.

It further read, "At Modern Coast, the safety and well being of our passengers and staff remains our paramount focus during this period".

The company said as a result, hand sanitisers are now available at all of its booking offices and buses for use by passengers prior to boarding and during the course of their journies.

"The cleanliness of our buses is of utmost importance. We have reviewed and made changes to our cleaning programe of all buses including inspection to ensure the highest level of hygiene," the MD said.

All crew members and office teams have been trained and sensitised with regard to the best practises to prevent the spread of the virus.
