Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said the party prefers a powerful Prime Minister in the recommendations made by the Building Bridges Initiative Taskforce.

Speaking at Wiper headquarters on Thursday during the NEC meeting, Kalonzo said the team which will make final changes to the report should ensure that the PM has some powers.

"I would like to go to the recommendations that we made as Nasa coalition for a PM. Personally I would have preferred a situation where the PM has some powers," Kalonzo said.

He added that the PM would even be picked from the party with the majority members in the Parliament.

Kalonzo said the BBI team diminished the PM according to their proposal, "they actually said that the PM will be paid just as an MP".

BBI report proposed that the President will appoint an MP from the largest party or coalition in Parliament as Prime Minister who will take up the position after being approved by Parliament.

The report adds that the Prime Minister shall have supervision and execution of the day-to-day functions and affairs of the Government.

Kalonzo has urged Kenyans to read the report before giving their own views and that the party is leading in terms of supporting the BBI report.

The report was made public on Wednesday at the Bomas of Kenya.

During the launch, Kalonzo said it was the right time to bring the country together.

He also urged that the experts to make to sharpen the report should be inclusive.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Tuesday provided with a brief and will be launching the report to the public on Wednesday.

During the meeting with the taskforce at State House, Nairobi, the President secured the support of opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto for the report.
