IEBC has dismissed claims by ODM that it made public an incomplete voters register for the Kibra by-election.

ODM had said that ID numbers were missing from the Kibra register, which they said makes verification difficult.

IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati said that the register was complete, with truncated ID numbers.

"The register of voters availed to the ODM party contained the names of voters, identification numbers (truncated) polling station numbers and voter registration number," Chebukati said.

The commission has further stated that the law allows it to decline to give information to the applicant where the situation is unreasonable.

"It is against theses principles that the Commission has put in place mechanisms to ensure confidentiality in the management of the information provided in the Register of Voters and thus in availing the Register of Voters cannot, therefore, avail full Identification numbers and mobile numbers hence the truncation," Chebukati added.

The commission added that the total number of registered voters for Kibra Constituency who are eligible to vote are 118, 658 as per the published Gazette notice.

The constituency will be heading to a by-election on November 7 to elect its MP.

The race has attracted 24 aspirants cleared by the commission.
