Mombasa cop in custody for stealing Sh400,000 exhibit cash

A Mombasa cop spent the night in police cells after she was arrested on Thursday evening for claims of stealing Sh 416,000 .

The money was put under her custody for an exhibit.

Corporal Lillian Joan Simiyu service number 89491 was arrested by EACC officers and is being held at Central Police Station.

Reports indicated that the officer was posted in EACC Mombasa officers as an investigator but ended up stealing the money.

Central OCS Julius Lingole confirmed her arrest. Her arrest comes days after two police officers were arrested for being part of criminals who stole millions of cash in Nairobi West on Saturday.

An administration officer and his general service colleague were arrested after loss of Sh 72 million in Standard Chartered Bank ATM.

On Tuesday three police officers among them a senior cop were arrested with fake money in Busia.
