A man was on Thursday charged with beating up a former lover for allegedly entering into a new relationship without his consent. 

Martin Imbukule was charged before Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani and denied the charges. 

He was released on Sh30, 000 or cash bail of Sh20,000 with a surety of the same amount and a credible contact person. 

Imbukule is accused that on September 7 in Kibera Katwekera area he assaulted Trizah Wanjiku with whom he had stayed for two years before they separated in July.

He insulted Wanjiku, insulted her and injured her faced.

It has is alleged the complainant was in the company of her friends when the accused spotted her and chased her. 

"He abused me that I was a prostitute and a woman who always sleeps around with desperate men," Wanjiku told police. 

She was rescued by a passerby after her friends ran away from the angry Imbukule.

 

The case will be mentioned on September 26.
