Following Thursday's State of the Nation address in which President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke about security, corruption, national values and international obligation, Kenyans on Twitter weren’t impressed.

Some said the President's speech was exactly the same it is always is, while others questioned what the speech meant.

Twitter user The People’s Power said, “The gap between the government and ordinary mwananchi has grown 10x bigger. I now resolve that our president is totally incompetent and unfit to hold presidency office.”

Mùya tweeted, “That's enough shenanigans for the day.”

“How can the author of that speech sleep at night?? Surely something wasn't properly communicated” tweeted user Geoconsult.

William expressed his frustration, “This govt needs to go home. Nothing new n that speech.”

A view that was echoed by user, Cericali and Mesh, who tweeted:

“So what did he say that he's never told us before?  Disappointed!”

Anaclet said, “‏The only thing I heard that was believable in the [State of the Nation] address is ‘Thank you and God bless Kenya’.”

“The President has spoken to the Nation for a whole hour, kept us glued to TVs at the expense of work and told us NOTHING. Same old rhetoric of yesteryears, such an anticlimax. We are on our own in this fight against corruption.”

On questioning the notion of the speech KoT’s main concern lay in what the President was doing with corruption.

Stephen tweeted, “Really!! Pursuit of the corrupt will be strictly through the law, not vigilante justice and protests... President Uhuru Kenyatta”

“It was just horrible. Action packed but that's just about it. Uhuru Kenyatta enjoys seeing Kenyans suffer.  Why can't he fire the corrupt? Most of whom have been adversely mentioned?” questioned Irene.

Lepetron tweeted, “Uhuru's speech was a complete waste of time. Corruption wins again. He trembles at the thought of sacking the corrupt. 'No turning back' is an impotent bankrupt slogan.”

“Empty words and insulting promises of fighting corruption has become your trademark, do something tangible, otherwise corruption will win,” tweeted Wilson.

Bobby tweeted, “Patriots were waiting for the sacking and arrest of the highest priest of corruption. Anything short of that is a mere routine exercise. Kelele. (noise).”
