The Director of Public Prosecutions has been given the inquiry report on a missing Nanuki businessman.

Ramadhan Ali is said to have disappeared on March 13. Isiolo police turned over the file.

Ali is a prominent businessman in Isiolo, Marsabit, and Nanyuki. He is also a licensed firearms holder.

His family says his disappearance could be linked to business associates and rivalry.

Isiolo Police Commander Joseph Kigen told the Star on the phone the report of the inquiry into the missing person was received at the ODPP in Nairobi on Monday afternoon.

Kigen said the last person seen with Ali had resurfaced and reported to the police in Isiolo where he recorded a statement and gave his account to the inquiry committee.

“What is left is for the ODPP to look at the report and give direction to police, which [could] include ordering us to arrest or not to arrest the suspect last seen with the missing person,” Kigen said.

The missing person’s sister, Saadia Dika, said the family has been traumatised since March 12 when Ali went missing.

“We wouldn't want anyone to go through what we are experiencing right now. My brother Rama is not an ordinary person, he was respected and loved by many. Above all, he had connections in high places, this can be attested to by his timeline on Facebook  (ramzy ali),” Dika told the Star on phone.

Dika said some family members living in Nairobi reported the matter at Kayole police station (OB Kayole 48/16/03/19) and that signals were relayed all over the country.

“We also involved Ali’s elders, friends, and government officials, including county leaders to try and unravel the mysterious disappearance of our lovely brother. But as much as we try to dig deeper, the murkier it becomes and nobody is offering any solutions,” his sister said.

She told the Star the family carried out their own investigations and established that Ali was traveling with his friend to Marsabit on the day he went missing.

He was driving his Toyota Land Cruiser Hard Top Reg No. KAQ 986R. He drove passed Isiolo town at around 18.00 hrs on that fateful day. He proceeded on, and as he was approaching Archer's Post at around 19.00 hrs, he was intercepted and kidnapped

She claimed they were abducted between Engineering School and KWS Complex where they were held for a while before being taken back to Isiolo town.

“They (the kidnappers) then proceeded with the two people to Maili Saba and later to Lewa Downs Conservancy area at around 23.50 hrs,” Dika claims.

Ramadhan’s family friend and neighbour in Nanyuki, Dr Abdullahi Shongo, told the Star the entire community is devastated after the disappearance of their son.

Human rights activist, Al-Amin Kimathi told the Star that he has urged the police to produce Ramadhan alive or dead and arrest the culprits whom he claimed are known to the family.
