At least 47 passengers escaped unhurt after a Mombasa-bound bus caught fire on Wednesday at dawn.The 51-seater Simba Coach bus burst into flames at Ivingoni, Kibwezi subcounty.Makueni county police commander Joseph Napeiyan said:"The driver pulled off the bus from the road immediately.""They all got out of the bus safely and removed their luggage before the fire spread and consumed the whole vehicle," Napeiyan said.

At least 47 passengers escaped unhurt after a Mombasa-bound bus caught fire on Wednesday at dawn.

The 51-seater Simba Coach bus burst into flames at Ivingoni, Kibwezi subcounty.

Makueni county police commander Joseph Napeiyan said:

"The driver pulled off the bus from the road immediately."

"They all got out of the bus safely and removed their luggage before the fire spread and consumed the whole vehicle," Napeiyan said.

He said the bus had 47 passengers on board at about 4am when the incident was reported.

According to Napeiyan, the passengers were picked by another bus belonging to the same company at about 6am.
