Busia county commissioner Jacob Narengo was admitted to Homa Bay county referral hospital following a car crash on Monday.
Narengo sustained chest injuries in the accident involving two vehicles and a motorcycle at Samanga on the Homa Bay –Kendu Bay road.
The motorcyle rider was pronounced dead on arrival at the subcounty hospital, administrator Zachariah Ogweno said.
The administrator's vehicle was badly damaged. He was from a meeting on cross-border policing in Homa Bay at the time of the accident.
The meeting brought together Kenyan security officers bordering Lake Victoria and their Ugandan counterparts.
Homa Bay county commissioner Irungu Macharia said Narengo was treated for minor injuries and was under observation at the county hospital.
