A businessman has been charged before a Kibera court with obtaining over 2.9 million from a retired Kenya Airways Captain.
Newton Kigera Jamaine was accused of fraudulently obtaining the money from Patrick Karanja on dates between October and December 2017.
He allegedly received the money pretending that he would import motor vehicles for Karanja.
Kigera denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Elizabeth Juma and pleaded for lenient cash bail.
He also requested the court for copies of witness statements.
Juma released him on a Sh1 million bond.
The case will be heard on November 6.
