At least 11 people will be arraigned in Thika today to answer to charges of operating an illegal gas filling station.
The lot was arrested at the weekend in a Thika estate and were detained at Makongeni police station.
The operation was conducted by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Anti-Counterfeit Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
They are employees of Rash Energy Ltd, an LPG gas filling entity located in Umoja area of Makongeni location.
Juja sub-county commissioner Charles Muriithi has instructed chiefs to conduct an audit of fuel stations in the area.
He said illegal fuel stations have been mushrooming in the area hence pose serious risks to the residents.
