Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's family has said their three-acre farm in Kilifi is under threat.

The family said they were attacked last Friday by a group targeting the land.

Earlier reports indicated the tussle saw the governor brandish a gun.

But on Wednesday Sonko's cousin, Dominic

Mbatia,

said seven men stormed their home on that night with land documents and demanded they vacate.

He said one Joseph Lenguris claimed ownership over the land and denied the reports that guns were drawn.

Kilifi Southmw Lands Control Board member Abdulkarim Hassan said the parcel was sold to Mwelu whose family claimed to have been attacked during the Friday fracas. Mwelu is related to the Nairobi governor.

Hassan said Monicah Hati, a German, sold the parcel to Mwelu seven years ago while the family said the cost was Sh8 million.

Reports indicate Lenguris was Hati's boyfriend before she permanently moved to Germany.

"Lenguris applied for a provincial title deed which he used to call for eviction," Hassan said.

The family claimed they were held hostage from 10pm Friday night

before Sonko arrived with police.

Mwelu's son Carol Bachi, who said he was blocked from accessing the house that night, noted the seven men had crude weapons and killed one dog.

He had reported the matter to Kijipwa police station and was given

OB number 31/12/01/018 when the officers arrived.

“I really

thank

God because i

could have died .Those

people were heavily armed.” he said on phone

Said Hemed a village elder added that Joseph Lenguris has several cases in Police and and no action has since been taken.

Investigations conducted by The Star shows that Joseph had a firearm case under ob number 20/14/3/2012 and the case was reported at Kijipwa police station.

Weeping Jane Mwelu said that they almost raped her but she was rescued by Sonko’s team.

Jane Mwende, who lives in the house, said the attackers threatened to rape her.

But Lenguris told the Star on the phone that Mwelu paid him Sh2 million for the parcel whose price was Sh23 million.

"They threw me out in August 2013. I went to court and an order was given that I should repossess the land. That's is why I came on Friday and took over," he said.

Contrary to the Mwelu family's account, Lenguris said he was the one inside when Sonko arrived and "fired 10 live bullets".

He denied he held the family hostage and claimed Sonko was accompanied by "goons", not the police.

"I knew Sonko was behind this when he called me for a meeting on Saturday," he said.
