The Kisii government has ordered the evacuation of a five-storey building following vibrations,
cracks and instability.
Kisii Urban Engineer Oyaro Kenyoru
said a preliminary visual assessment indicated vibrations on floors and stair cases.
Kenyoru
added that the equilibrium of the building in Mwembe Estate was suspect and
ordered tenants to leave before a thorough
assessment by a team from the National Building Inspectorate.
"Following a public complaint and a subsequent visit to the site by a team from the National Construction Authority and Kisii county, we direct that you vacate the building as soon as possible," read the notice he issued.
The notice was given two weeks after seven people died when a building in the area collapsed.
The owner was charged with seven counts of manslaughter.

On Friday, more than 20 tenants were locked out of the building over what the landlord said were rent arrears.
National Disaster Management Unit deputy director Pius Masai issued a statement asking the public to keep off the site.
"The building should be cordoned off and relevant authorities are advised to complete investigations with recommendations and appropriate actions," said Masai.
Several other tenants in adjacent buildings were also forced to vacate their houses.
Two years ago, the county government evacuated more than 100
people
from a five-storey building in Jogoo Estate. It collapsed two days later.
