Homa Bay governor aspirant Oyugi Magwanga has resigned from ODM and will contest as an independent candidate.
Magwanga, who locked horns with incumbent Cyprian Awiti, and whose nomination was upheld by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal, says he was disappointed by the ruling.
ODM told the tribunal Awiti was given a direct ticket, a move Magwanga says is a tactic to protect Awiti from a repeat poll.
The Kasipul MP said the ODM National Elections Board helped to rig Awiti in. He said after the results were announced, they were nullified by NEB and a three-man team was formed to look into the dispute.
Led by ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire, they presented their recommendations that Awiti was not validly elected,

but Magwanga says they were not acted upon by the party’s election board.
Magwanga said he is in talks with aspirant Sam Wakiaga on how they can form a formidable force to trounce Awiti at the August General Election.
Magwanga asked his supporters to vote for NASA flagbearer wRaila Odinga.
