Nixon Kukubo, who lost in the 2007 presidential poll, has promised President Uhuru Kenyatta a humilating defeat in the August 8 elections.

Kukubo vied against former President Mwai Kibaki emerging last with 5,927 votes. Raila Odinga, now in NASA, also took part in the polls.

The politician, who will run as an independent candidate, on Tuesday said Uhuru will go down in the history of Kenya as a one-term president.

He told the Star in an interview at Webuye that poor performance, skyrocketing food prices will deal Jubilee Party a blow at the polls.

The presidential candidate urged Kenyans not to be swayed by party and tribal euphoria but instead vote for personalities.

"Kenyans have seen what party euphoria and political ethnicity has done to the country."

"Uhuru should prepare for a humiliating defeat by me because of how he has managed the country since his election," Kukubo said.

The President is seeking a second term in a poll that has also attracted 17 other aspirants.

Kukubo said he was certain that he will be Kenya’s fifth President further exuding confidence of winning with a landslide.

"My friend, you should start talking to me nicely and address me as His Excellency because I am going to be the fifth president of the republic of Kenya."

On his poor performance during the 2007 general election, the politician said the process was not fair citing observations by international bodies.

The results of the 2007 election were disputed leading to chaos which left more than 1,300 dead and over 650,000 displaced from their homes.

Kukubo also dismissed the NASA team as not in any way different from the Jubilee Party.

"These are just the same monkeys changing forests. There is no difference between NASA and Jubilee. Kenyans should not vote for either."

The former KDF soldier warned the luhya community against being duped that they have a stake in the opposition.

He said Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula have proved to be political brokers.

"They are using the Luhya community for their personal interests. The positions they have been given are not commensurate to the Luhya population."

In the NASA arrangement, Wetang'ula and Mudavadi will serve as deputy premier cabinet secretaries should the opposition wins in August.

Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper and Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto of Chama cha Mashinani are also members of the NASA Pentagon.

"By shelving their ambitions for Raila, they have showed that their interest was not to lead Kenya but to stay close to power," Kukubo said.

The aspirant said he will embark on vigorous campaigns throughout the country starting Friday this week.

"We have already scheduled a meeting with other independent candidates with similar opinion," he said.

Kukubo said the concluded primaries by political parties had shown that the entities have no capacity to run the country.

"Vote for independent candidates," he said in the wake of the Political Parties Registrar clearing more than 4,000 to vie as independents.
