The demolition of unsafe buildings in Huruma estate will start on Thursday.
Nairobi county Lands executive Christopher Khaemba said on Wednesday that IG Joseph Boinett has deployed 15 police officers to provide security for NYS personnel who will carry out the exercise.
Khaemba says the county has also secured 3 excavators, two from NYS and one from a private firm.
The demolitions were to resume last Thursday after month-long break, but NYS director general complained about the security of his personnel.
The demolition order was issued following the collapse of a building in Huruma on April 29 where 51 people were killed.
The National Construction Authority and Nairobi county government have identified dozens of houses to be demolished in the entire county.
The houses were found to be unfit for habitation after it emerged that they were built without approval by the county government, the National Construction Authority and the National Environmental Management Authority.
They also did not meet the required safety standards, hence posing a danger to occupants.
The exercise was instigated following the collapse of a building in Huruma in May.
At least 51 people died from the incident.
